Country USA 2007
Jun 25th

Had a blast working at Country USA this year. I missed working last year since I had a class that interfered with the schedule. It was good to be back and see everyone again. I’m honored that people still remember me. We all wear red security shirts that don’t give us much individual identity.
Time went really fast. I worked both the festival and my summer job at once. It was pretty brutal, but I’m looking forward to getting paid twice this week. Maybe I can squeeze in a short vacation this summer.
My picks for show stealer’s this year are Emerson Drive and Montgomery Gentry. In my opinion, they got the fans going the most.
Regardless of where I end up after graduating, I might start flying to Oshkosh every year to work Country USA. I’m building ties that are making it hard to officially leave Wisconsin.
In closing, a friend at the event gave me some good advice. It’s only one word..

Country USA has always been an intense experience. However, I had more involvement this year. I never thought a skinny dude like myself would be able to handle a situation involving six drunk guys.
Also, I wasn’t as nice this year. If people didn’t put the front of their chairs on a line, I made sure they did. General seating people wanted to cut through the reserved section “just to get out faster”. I didn’t let them.
Honestly, it’s a tough job. It’s all about working from dawn until dusk, having only one break, and spending your entire day managing the crowd. I got both praised, and spit on. It’s an experience that happens once a year.
Everytime I get home on the last day, I say to myself “What the hell just happened?” lol.

Country USA 2005 is here!

Today is the opening day! Five days of excitement in Country Music land. Honestly, I never really was a fan of Country until I started working at this event a few years ago. The fans and the stars keep the day going and make the time pass quickly.
There’s also the anarchy of working an event like this, but it just comes with the package. Everything is just so overwhelming there, none of that really matters.
