I installed a fresh copy of Windows Vista Beta 2 on my desktop a few weeks ago. It found all of my hardware right away. Both Nvidia and Creative Labs had Vista drivers available for my video and sound cards. As far as software goes, there are a couple of things that I use that don’t work with Vista yet.
Here is the list of programs that I have running on Vista so far:
- Skype
- Firefox (Embedded Windows Media files don’t work. Might have to reinstall WMP 11)
- FileZilla
- Flickr Uploader
- iPod software
- iTunes
- Gaim (Instant Messanger Client like Trillian)
- Quicktime
The interface is really slick looking. I think it’s more user friendly than XP. For a new user, it gives you alot of extra confirmation popups that make sure you really want to do whatever action your doing (Installing software, turning on firewall etc.) Here’s a screenshot of my desktop.

There are still things I have yet to discover about Windows Vista Beta 2, but this is what I have for now. I’m still an Apple person, and life with an Apple computer takes a lot of stress off your shoulders.
